How to recover text from a damaged document

by admin on July 24, 2008

If a Word file crashes, you can still recover some of the text by using the Open and Repair feature.

1. Click File, Open.

2. Navigate to the folder where the file was saved.

3. Select the file you want to recover.

4. Click the arrow next to the Open button, and then click Open and Repair.

This opens the Word document and allows you to extract text from the file. Once you have this, you can use it to rebuild your document.
